MEXORC / Vallarta Race Week
March 10-17, 2012 MEXORC (Mexican Ocean Racing Circuit) series began in the 1970's, and is held every second year (following the San Diego to PV Yacht Race)... Vallarta Race Week is a similar event that occurs on alternate ('odd') years. Both events are fed with competitors arriving from California in the offshore Puerto Vallarta race, and boats coming up to Banderas Bay from Acapulco. This is a truly fantastic event, with warm weather, great sailing, and a huge variety of off the water events organized by the regatta hosts. The 2010 event even had the President of Mexico stop by for a couple of days! The nightly parties (including the on-the-beach dinner at Caletas on the south shore, complete with shuttle ferries back to the resort and the closing dinner/ceremonies) were not to be missed!
J/World, the
Performance Sailing School,
is entering our turboed 52 foot
Hula Girl
in the 2012 event. We'll have a team of four to six of
our top tier coaches overseeing the campaign, and everyone aboard
gets to be an active member of the team.
The event runs for
seven days, with a healthy mix of distance racing and buoy racing.
Eight races are scheduled, with a lay-day on Wednesday.
Dates have yet to be finalized, but the 2012 MEXORC will be March 10-17. The event is $2985 per person (plus tax) Spaces are limited, so contact us now to reserve your berth. See the wrap up from the 2010 event here.

What makes J/World Offshore and Big Boat programs exceptional? J World has been coaching sailors and racers for over three decades. We put together programs like no one else. We focus on small groups where everyone gets to do a variety of jobs on the boat. We DO NOT load the boat with a dozen clients and force people to do the menial jobs aboard. And, of key importance, is the fact that we own the boat we are racing on. It's not a charter boat. It's not on loan from an owner. It's not leased from a charter company. It's a J/World boat, which means that it is kept up to an extremely high standard. It's a real raceboat, not a 'cattle boat.' This is why our clients keep coming back for more adventures.
