Big Boat Racing Programs

J World, the Performance Sailing School and Club, is proud to offer sailors a chance to learn the intricacies of sailing a large racing yacht in actual grand prix level events.  These events provide a rare opportunity to be an active participant in a serious racing event.

These are turn-key programs.  All the logistics are taken care of.  Each member of the team has the opportunity to rotate through all of the key positions, including bow, jib trim, main trim, spinnaker trimmer, and helm.  This gives competitors the rare opportunity to hone all of the skills necessary to become a successful team player.  These events begin with coached practice sessions, and culminate in participation in a true, high level regatta.  Multiple J World staff (top-tier professional sailors and coaches) are aboard the vessels to provide insights and commentary, encouraging a cooperative team environment and contributing to a successful campaign.

We are proud to have a renowned sled in our stables, which is our primary vessel for most of these events.  Hula Girl, the turboed Santa Cruz 50 formerly owned by Paul Cayard, is one sweet ride.  Click here for more info on the boat....

Some of the events we target on an annual basis:

MEXORC/Vallarta Race Week - March of even years
MEXORC (Mexican Ocean Racing Circuit) series began in the 1970's, and is held every second year... Vallarta Race Week is a similar event that occurs on alternate ('odd') years. Both events are fed with competitors arriving from California in the offshore Puerto Vallarta race, and boats coming up to Banderas Bay from Acapulco.  Warm weather and great sailing make these winter events awesome!  More Information...

Transpac - July of odd number years
The world renowned sprint from Los Angeles to Hawaii...   this race is nothing short of legendary, and now you can be a part of it. The next event is in the summer of 2011.  Click here for more info.

Pacific Cup - July  of even number years
An amazingly popular downwind (mostly) race from San Francisco to the Hawaiian Islands...  This is the experience of a lifetime!   Click here for more info.

Newport to Cabo Yacht Race - March of odd years
The race from Newport Beach, CA to Cabo San Lucas at the end of the Baja peninsula held every two years, a West Coast classic and (mostly) downwind sprint to warm weather!  Click here for more info.

San Diego to Puerto Vallarta Race - March of even years
A truly fantastic slide down the west coast to our base in the beautiful Banderas Bay.  Climb aboard our sled for the experience of a lifetime!  Click here for more info.
